DAY 1: MUSCAT (ARRIVAL)
Arrival at Muscat International airport, after visa and immigration formalities our representative will meet and escort the guests to waiting air-conditioned vehicle for transfer to hotel. Overnight in Muscat.
DAY 2: MUSCAT– NIZWA [200km]
Breakfast at the hotel. Check-out from hotel. We will visit MUSCAT.Drive through the beautiful embassy quarter, visit the the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque that has a remarkable architectural achievement. As a contemporary place of worship it serves as a spiritual landmark for modern Oman, projecting the values and aspirations of the Omani people. As an edifice, it maintains a perfect balance between aesthetics, culture and deeply rooted Islamic tradition. After the visit , we will continue exploring the different areas of the city .Lunch will be served in the city. After lunch, we will visit the famous Royal OPERA house of Muscat , a music sanctuary created recently by Sultan Qaboos . Afterwards we will visit Old Muscat, surrounded by steep mountains and flanked by twin 16thcentury forts ‘Jalali’ & ‘Mirani’, also see the Al Alam Palace, His Majesty Sultan Qaboos’ residence. We will then proceed to Bait Al Zubair Museum. Bait Al Zubair is itself a part of Muscat heritage. Sheikh Al Zubair who served three former Sultans, founded the house in 1914 and his son Mohammad Al Zubair opened it as a museum in 1998. It’s carved doors opens up into a fortress style reception. The museum includes traditional Omani weaponry, jeweler, costumes, domestic utensils and recreated urban and rural environments. Then drive through the scenic beauty of the corniche, stop at Muttrah - the main port & commercial centre, and explore the colorful historic souk. This is a real souk with winding alleys and backstreets and stalls selling all manner of textiles, jewelry, traditional Omani perfumes (bukhoor - made of frankincense), souvenirs and antiques….After that long tour , we will drive to Nizwa. We will reach Nizwa end of the day. Dinner & Overnight in Nizwa.
DAY 3: NIZWA – WAHIBA ( 300 KM)
After breakfast , before you head for Wahiba, we will do the city tour of Nizwa , Our first stop will be the charming ancestral village of BIRKAT AL MAWZ at the bottom of the GREEN mountain , JEBEL AKHDAR. We will then stop at its famous souk. Nizwa sits on a plain characterized by seasonal rivers and palm plantations. It's known for Nizwa Fort, a castle with a huge cylindrical tower built in the 17th century to defend the city's position on a major trade route. The adjoining marketplace, Nizwa Souk, is lined with handicrafts stalls and silversmiths working in small shops. Nizwa was the ancient capital of OMAN. Highlight of the day is the visit of the possibly most impressing castle in the Sultanate of Oman, the castle of Jabreen. Lunch will be served in a local simple restaurant. If our visit falls on a Friday, we will not miss the Cattle market happening early morning at Nizwa early morning. In the afternoon, we will further move to Wahiba by coach. Our 4x4s will be meeting at the edge of the desert and transfer to the Desert camp. Dinner in the camp & Overnights at the desert Camp.
DAY 4: WAHIBA – SUR - MUSCAT (350 KM)
After the camp breakfast we will have a short desert exploration by 4x4 until thrilling experience. The vast, ever shifting dunes support an astonishing variety of wildlife and host different kinds of flora and fauna. The quick changing patterns of the dunes are a photographer’s delight. Wahiba sands are also the home to a few thousand Bedouins, who are known to have inhabited this inhospitable region for at least 7000 years. Go dune bashing as our experienced drivers show their skill on the dune drive which is a thrilling experience. After that we visit Wadi Bani Khalid – a lush green valley surrounded by rugged mountains. We will enjoy an incredible view and a chance to capture the scenic beauty with your camera. Investigate the surrounding area on foot. Lunch at Wadi Bani Khalid. We will then continue our route through the Omani mountains and wadis. We will then continue to Sur, a sea-faring town and a trading port bustling with activity throughout the year. Famed for the fascinating architecture of its old town and shipyards where traditional dhows have been built for centuries at the edge of the bay. Continue on the coastal road passing through high cliffs and small fishing villages In the afternoon will continue our journey back to Muscat. On the way, we will pass WADI SHAB a paradise of natural pools and caves. It is marvelous natural wadi with great natural pools. We will pass by the white sand beaches of FINS. Then we continue to the famous Sinkhole where we will stop , before reaching our destination. Drop off in your hotel in Muscat. Dinner & Overnight in Muscat
DAY 5: MUSCAT – NAKHL - (DEPARTURE)
Breakfast at the hotel. We will start our day drive to to Nakhl is a typical Omani village. It lies at the foothills of the mountains near an abundant source of water, which irrigates extensive date palm plantations. Nakhl Tour start by driving towards Nakhl Fort. As you approach Nakhl, keep an eye out on the fortress that sits on a hillock outside the town. The fort’s origin is pre-Islamic with major contributions by the Al Ya’ruba and the Al Bu Sayed dynasties. We will visit the fort,and the mineral-laden hot springs water in Nakhl (Al Thowarah Hot Spring). We will visit a OMANI sweet factory . just see how this famous sweet made of sugar, saffron, rose water and many other ingredients is being cooked with natural woods .Then we drive back through Seeb souq by the seaside. Lunch in a typical OMANI fort where you will enjoy OMANI food at its best just like the old days.
Depending on your departure time. 04hrs prior to schedule flight, transfer to Muscat Int’l Airport for a flight for onward or return destination.
