DAY 2: MUSCAT
Breakfast. Being a rare blend of ancient & modern, Muscat is a beautiful city which lies in a maze of brown pleated Mountains. Lulled by the Arabian Sea, the city has undergone dramatic development in the past two or three decades. However, Muscat takes pride in the fact that it has preserved its lustrous culture & heritage. Our visit starts with a tour of the grand mosque, which is an architectural marvel and perhaps the new landmark of the city. The drive continues through the ministries' area, where you can see a number of modern buildings with touches of ancient, Islamic architecture. We will then visit the fish market and the folkloric Muttrah souk, with its narrow covered alleys where you can smell exotic aromas of mounds of spices, coffee beans, and ancient remedies, all enticing perfumes that fill the air. Next, engage in a visit to the Bait Al Zubair Museum, which has a fine exhibit of Omani history and culture, encompassing all of the areas traditional values. You will also have a photo-stop at the magnificent Al Alam Palace (the official residence of Sultan Qaboos) flanked by the twin Portuguese forts of Mirani & Jalali. Lunch & Dinner is Free. DAY 3: MUSCAT – NIZWA – MUSCAT
Breakfast, Morning we proceed to Nizwa, Forts and castles are Oman’s most striking cultural landmarks and together with its towers and city walls, have historically been used as defensive look-out points. It is estimated that there are over 500 forts, Castles and towers in Oman. Our visit will include a few of the ones which are more remarkable & striking in their Architecture & style. The ancient capital of Oman, Nizwa, was a seat of learning and the birthplace of Islam in Oman. The 17th century Round fort and its Souk, famous for its silver jewelry, are the major attraction of Nizwa. Not to mention the popular & interesting cattle auction, which takes place every Friday. Built on a scold base of rock, the huge tower was designed to withstand the vibration of 24 cannons. We move on to Bahla famous for its handmade pottery. Bahla is listed in UNESCOS world heritage sites, however, the fort is now under renovation and is not open to public. Built as a defensive stronghold, the Jabreen is perhaps the finest of Omani castles. The castle has dungeons, passages, as well as rooms and ceilings decorated with fine carvings & paintings. DAY 4: MUSCAT – NAKHL – MUSCAT
Breakfast, Morning we proceed to Nakhl, is a typical Omani village. It lies at the foothills of the mountains near an abundant source of water, which irrigates extensive date palm plantations. The tour begins by driving along the magnificent Batinah coastline. You will stop and visit the local Fish Souk and the Historical Seeb Souk. Proceeding to Barka you will see the Oasis of Nakhl, visit the 17th Century Fort and enjoy the invigorating waters of Al Thowarah Hotn Springs. Enjoy picnic lunch, and continue to the township of Rustaq with a visit to Al Hazm Fort before returning to Muscat. Overnight in MUSCAT
DAY 5: MUSCAT – WADI SHAB - MUSCAT
Breakfast, Morning we proceed to Southern Oman, Starting in the morning, this organized Gray line tour will take you through the mountainous and desert landscape, to the dramatic Bimah Sinkhole. Your tour will allow time for you to swim in the area's clear, sparkling waters. Once you are refreshed, you will continue travelling through the villages of Dahab and Finns and arrive at Wadi Shab wadi meaning gorge between cliffs. Your guide will take you for an easy, yet breathtaking walk through the wonderous Wadi. Here you can relax as you walk the nature trails or take a dip in the natural pools. After this, you will have a chance to visit the coastal village of Tiwi before commencing your return journey. A soothing picnic lunch will be organized for you to enjoy your meal in a natural setting. On your return trip, you can stop at the township of Quriyat and visit the Fish Souk located on the edge of the expansive harbor. Dinner is free, Overnight in MUSCAT
DAY 6: MUSCAT
Breakfast, Morning we proceed to Dolphin cruise, The coast of Oman is blessed with a variety of Dolphins & whales, which consist of about 21 different species, including the Blue whale, which is seldom seen anywhere else in the world. In this tour, our capable Gray line staff will transfer you from your hotel to the jetty, where you will be able to take your boat and go on your search through the sea for these friendly creatures. While it is not guaranteed that you would spot dolphins on every trip, this is an enjoyable experience aboard the sea, where you will search to find the dolphins, and if you're lucky enough, even spot a whale, while our onboard cetacean specialist enlightens you with vast knowledge about these Interesting marine mammals. Lunch is Free. In the evening we will discover the city in the night Muscat by Night tour, Evening 4.30 pm pick-up from hotel, head to the Sultan’s Palace (Al Alam Palace) to take a photo of the gates and colonnaded approach. Flanked by the 16th-century Portuguese forts of Jalali and Mirani, the palace is today largely used for ceremonial purposes. Drive towards the Corniche. Admire the city's attractive harbor area, especially pleasant during the winter months when there is a cool evening breeze. Then go to the Muttrah Souq to discover a mix of the old and new along with a myriad sights, sounds and fragrances from everyday life. Do a little souvenir shopping and continue to visit the Grand Mosque and look at the most prominent religious landmark in Oman. Admire the stately grandeur of the architectural masterpiece from the outside, you may not be able to enter the indoor praying area at night. We will make photo stop at Mohammed Al Ameen Mosque also and move to Royal Opera house for a photo stop. Dinner Free. Overnight in MUSCAT
DAY 7: MUSCAT – DEPARTURE
Breakfast. This morning you will be able to enjoy your hotel. Depending on your time of flight transfer to MUSCAT airport for departure.
Pick up : Gray Line will pick up its customers in most of the major hotels. The pick up time vary between 1 hour to 15 minutes before the start of the tour. We will confirm you one day earlier a precise time by email.
Drop off: After the tour, our vehicle will drop off the passengers back to the hotel.
